About LoomLance

We exist to help you feel at home with your sewing machine—calm, capable, and creatively fulfilled.

Our story

LoomLance began as a spare-room studio where neighbors gathered to tame their machines. We noticed the same barriers—thread nests, confusing dials, and fear of “ruining” fabric. We built a curriculum that removes anxiety, adds clarity, and honors the mindful rhythm of sewing.

Today, our courses span fundamentals to advanced finishing. We keep production values high and the pacing gentle, so you leave each lesson with a win and a smile.

Mission & values

  • Calm guidance over rushed instruction
  • Clarity of technique and purpose
  • Accessible learning for all levels, all machines
  • Craftsmanship that respects time, tools, and materials

We teach techniques that last—a foundation for lifelong making without gimmicks or hype.

Team

Mara Chen — Lead Instructor

Pattern maker, garment engineer, and fitting specialist with 12+ years of studio experience.

Jonah Ortiz — Technical Coach

Machine whisperer. From tension to timing, Jonah makes complex mechanics approachable.

Ava Sule — Quilting & Repairs

How we teach

We break down each skill into digestible steps: observe, set up, test, and produce. We layer complexity gradually and provide downloadable checklists to reduce decision fatigue. Our terracotta and sage visual language keeps the interface soft and welcoming.

Studio pledge

We avoid false urgency, respect your pace, and never make unrealistic promises. Your creativity is the priority—our job is to remove friction and celebrate progress.
